Cuttack: In a significant decision to come down hard on corrupt officials, the Vigilance department on Thursday clearly apprised that its prime focus will be to confiscate all properties that are unaccounted or controversial in nature.

At a press meet here, Director of Vigilance, Dr RP Sharma informed that the Vigilance department has been directed to confiscate controversial properties in accordance with the Article 13 of Special Courts Act 2006.

“Out of the 575 cases registered last year, 162 cases were against Class-I officials and 104 against Class-II officials in which a total of 1099 persons were accused. In all these cases a total worth of Rs 115.52 crores of unaccounted properties is involved. Similarly, out of a total of 141 cases registered since 2013, 43 cases have been solved,” stated RP Sharma.
