Bhubaneswar: With the festival of colours Holi barely a day away, Commissionerate Police has now geared up to put a check on the sale of harmful chemical colours in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Police Commissioner YB Khurania on Wednesday informed that two special teams have been formed to conduct surprise raids on various kiosks and shops to ensure that no hazardous or chemical colours are sold during Holi.

The raids are expected to continue till tomorrow while stern action will be taken against the violators.

Similarly, adequate security measures have also been undertaken by Commissionerate police to maintain law and order during the festivity.

"Apart from static deployment, mobile patrolling teams have also been formed along with quick action teams to take timely measures against any eventuality," said Sharma.

Senior police officials informed that special drives will also be launched against mischief makers and efforts made to put a check on incidents of eve-teasing and drunken driving during Holi.

Besides, fire services department and ODRAF officials have been asked to remain alert and keep vigil near various ghats to prevent incidents of drowning as usually people in large numbers throng rivers to take bath after playing Holi.
