Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions prevailed in parts of Odisha today as the mercury settled at 6 degrees Celsius at Daringibadi in Kandhamal district, making it the coldest place in the state.

Kandhamal remained the coldest area in the state and the picturesque and mountainous Daringibadi recorded a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, the local MeT department said.

In the district headquarter town of Phulbani the mercury was only a notch higher at 7 degrees Celsius, it said.

The minimum temperature fell below 10 degrees Celsius in at least seven places, MeT officials said, adding the cold wave conditions are likely to continue.

The minimum temperature at Sundargarh was 7 degrees Celsius, while it was 7.7 degree Celsius at Bhawanipatna, 9 degrees Celsius at Angul and 9.9 degrees Celsius at Hirakud and Talcher, the MeT officials said.

Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum of 15.4 degrees Celsius, marginally higher than 14.6 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday, they said.
