Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been thrown out of gear due to intense cold wave condition prevailing for the past couple of days in several parts of Odisha.

People are mostly seen huddling around open fire with warm clothes put on. Persons going for work and school-goers have been facing difficulties to reach their destination due to the cold wave.

Due to fog in several places, vehicular movement has been affected.

While most of the towns have recorded temperatures below 15 degree Celsius, mercury dropped below 10 degree Celsius in as many as 15 towns on Monday.

While Phulbani was the coldest at four degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperature at 11.5 and 10 degree Celsius, respectively.

Sundergarh recorded six degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 7.7 degree Celsius, Keonjhar 7.9 degree Celsius, Angul 8.5 degree Celsius, Hirakud 8.6 degree Celsius, Bolangir and Bhawanipatna both recorded 9 degree Celsius each.

Similarly, temperature plummeted to 9.1 in Sambalpur, 9.5 degree Celsius in Balasore, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Sonepur.
