Bhubaneswar: Vowing to take tough stance against organised crime in State, newly appointed DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma today said he will instruct all SPs to bring people friendly policing in their respective districts and work in a fair and transparent way as per CM's direction.

"During a courtesy call, honourable Chief Minister directed me to bring a people-friendly policing and work impartially in a transparent manner. The instruction of CM will be passed on to all SPs soon," Sharma told media after meeting CM Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here today.

As the online game Blue-Whale has become a major cause of concern for the State, the new DGP assured to look into the issue. He said police would examine how many children in Odisha fell victim to the fatal game.

"Commissionerate Police and even the police headquarters have already issued an alert to all police stations. It is major concern for police. We will soon review how many kids in the State have become victim of the deadly game," he added.

Sharma, a 1986-batch IPS officer, was appointed as the police chief on Wednesday. He took over from the incumbent KB Singh on Thursday at police headquarters in Cuttack.
