Jagatsinghpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is visiting Jagatsinghpur district today to launch 20 new projects and address a public gathering at the district stadium.

Patnaik will fly in a chopper to the district and land at the helipad prepared in the premises of the Nabakrushna Choudhury stadium at 11 am.

Keeping the Chief Minister’s visit in view, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for security and vehicular traffic movement.

Manoj Kumar Mahanta, SDPO, Jagatsinghpur, said, “The district police have taken all possible measures for the security of the Chief Minister during his visit. Nine platoons of force and officers have been deployed for the purpose.”

Meanwhile, the district unit of Congress said it will oppose to the chief minister’s visit alleging Patnaik is going to inaugurate the projects which had been dedicated to people earlier.

Lalatendu Mohapatra, PCC spokesperson, said, “The party is against the visit of Patnaik as he is coming here only to gain political mileage. The projects, which Patnaik is going to launch, have been already inaugurated two-three years back. Besides, plaques have been put up at many unfinished projects hastily so that the Chief Minister could launch them during the visit.”

Refuting the charges, Bishnu Das, BJD District President, Jagatsinghpur, said “The Congress allegations are ridiculous as the Opposition party does not have either the on-the-ground knowledge or details about the projects.”

He added, “During his visit the Chief Minister will also launch some projects, which were targeted to be completed earlier but could not be finished due to some reason or other.”
