Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his last respect to Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Lulu) today. He went to Mohapatra’s government quarter here and paid floral tributes to the departed soul.

The dead body of the Mohapatra was later taken to the Assembly in a grand procession. A guard of honour was given to the departed soul. Besides, leaders cutting across party lines gathered at the Assembly to pay their last respect to Mohapatra.

Later, the body was taken to the Congress Bhawan, where party leaders, including Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan paid tributes of the three-time Brahmagiri MLA. The mortal remains of the leader will later be taken to Mohapatra’s native village Gadarodanga in Puri district, where the last will be conducted today.

A coffin carrying the body of Mohapatra arrived at the airport here from New Delhi in a special flight last night. The Congress leader breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, New Delhi on Sunday night due to multiple organ failure.
