Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today offered prayed to Lord Jagannath at the Puri Srimandir for smooth conduct of Rath Yatra rituals and successfully hosting Asian Athletics Championships. He also reviewed the repairs of the Jagamohan of the temple and directed for completion of remaining work within four months.

The CM also thanked servitors for their cooperation with the administration for peaceful and smooth conduction of Rath Yatra.

“I came on a surprise visit today to Srimandir to pray to the Lord for the people of Odisha and also to thank the Lord for the peaceful completion of Rath Yatra. I also reviewd the repairs going on in the themple,” said CM Naveen.

The CM has also directed for the repair works to be completed within four months.

Earlier in the day, a review meeting on repair works of the Jagamohan was held under the chairmanship of SJTA chief Pradip Jena. ASI officials, members of the technical committee, servitors of Chhatisa Nijog were also present in the meeting.

Speaking to the media, Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Pradip Jena said repair works which were stopped due to the Rath Yatra will soon be restarted after the temple management committee chalks out the pending works in a meeting tomorrow.

“Since the Chief Minister has directed to complete the repairs on time, we have planned to complete it within four months and for that from July 14 onwards, eight hours of work will be ensured on a daily basis. Since workers and officials under the ASI do not work for eight hours completely we have asked them to ensure that the works are completed within the stipulated time,” Jena said.
