Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered a probe into the misbehaviour incident of a young girl in a moving bus. The bus in which the incident took place has been identified by the Commissionerate Police. A special team, including one lady officer, is probing the incident under the leadership of Cuttack DCP.

Patnaik gave the probe order yesterday after the news was published in OTV. He has ordered the Commissionerate Police to conduct thorough probe and take quick action. CMO Odisha has posted about the probe order on social media.

Why did not the helpline number provide help and who is responsible for it, a probe on it has also been instructed by the Chief Minister. The Commissionerate Police has started an investigation after receiving the instructions.

Police Commissioner YB Khurania informed that Cuttack DCP has started the investigation. A case has been registered based on the facebook post of the victim girl.

Notably, after being misbehaved by a fellow male passenger in a moving bus, on Wednesday, she had dialled Police Helpline number 100 and Women Helpline number 1091, but none responded to her calls. Later she had posted about the incident on her facebook page.

OTV reacted to the matter and was first in publishing news about the incident. The girl, for the first time, narrated the incident to OTV by phone. While police has initiated an investigation after the instruction of the Chief Minister, the girl informed OTV that Commissionerate Police has contacted her and she is ready to help the police in the investigation.
