Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wrote to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu requesting for more trains via Nayagarh. The CM also reminded the Union Minister about pending railway projects and a daily Bhubaneswar-Khurda-Mumbai train named after legendary Odia warrior Buxi Jagabandhu.

CM Naveen first thanked Railway Minister Prabhu for the new rail connectivity to Nayagarh via Bolgarh as part of the Khurda Bolangir rail line. He also requested the Minister to increase the number of trains from two passenger trains to one express train each to Howrah and Visakhapatnam.

“With the commissioning of the new line upto Nayagarh headquarters, it is now important to provide the people here connectivity to the nearest large railway hubs,” wrote Naveen, suggesting Bhubaneswar Howrah Garib Rath Express may be extended upto Nayagarh town and an intercity type train be introduced to give people of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh and Ganjam, access to coastal belt of the state and the hubs like Howrah and Visakapatnam.

The CM also reminded Prabhu about re-commissioning of train lines between Paralakhemundi and Kashinagar stations and Nawapada-Gunpur Railway line. The letter also reiterated about early commencement of State partnered projects of Jeypore-Malkangiri and Jeypore-Nabarangpur lines and introduction of a new Bhubaneswar-Khurda-Mumbai train in memory of eminent Odia leader Buxi Jagabandhu.
