Bhubaneswar: In a change in tactics to reach and connect with voters, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has decided to start ward-level visits from August 31.

The Chief Minister’s ward-level visit is considered as a game plan by BJD to woo voters and counter the ‘Mo Booth Sabuthu Majboot’ (My Booth Strongest) campaign launched by BJP.

Patnaik would start his campaign from Berhampur’s ward no 23 on the occasion of the local self-governance day on August 31.

“Earlier people of the State used to visit Bhubaneswar to present their grievances before the Chief Minister. But, now the CM will meet people in their localities and resolve their issues,” said Berhampur MLA, Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik.

Meanwhile, the BJD chief today met party observers at the party office in Bhubaneswar and directed to form ward-level committees in two months. Besides, he circulated a template among party observers to facilitate selection of ward-level observers.

“In today’s meeting, district level matters of the party were discussed with observers,” Patnaik informed media.

BJD vice president Damodar Rout, who was also present in the meeting, said, “Patnaik has asked the members to strengthen the party organisation and counter false propaganda against BJD.”
