Chilika: Aspiring to tap the tourism potentials and make the state a great tourist hub, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Wednesday, inaugurated the much-awaited Swosti Chilika Resort at the Pathura village here during his visit to the Ganjam district.

With an investment of over Rs 80 crore, the eco-tourist luxury resort has been set up by the Swosti Group, a major hospitality and travel company in eastern India, on a massive nine acres land on the bank of the Chilika Lake.

“Apart from its unique location, the resort is facilitated with spa, yoga centre, houseboats, lush green landscaping, business centre, library, handicrafts souvenir shop, water sports, water scooters, facilities for water surfing, boating facilities around 26 hideaway islands,” said JK Mohanty, chairman and managing director, Swosti Group.

The resort also features herbal gardens, horse riding, kennel, badminton and tennis court, mini golf course, bird watching tower, bicycle tours for foreign tourists, village tours, boat restaurants, lake side open air tandoor restaurant, sports bar, facilities for conference, lawn for marriage facilities, added Mohanty.

Elaborating on the other facilities, Mohanty said cooking classes’ workshop has been set up for foreign tourists and there are provisions for helicopter landing inside the world class resort.

Food Supplies and Cooperation minister Surjya Narayan Patro, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Planning and Skill Development Minister Usha Devi and Kabisuryanagar MLA Sugnana Kumari Deo were among others who graced the occasion.
