Bhadrak: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the second phase expansion of Dhamra port which will expand its cargo handling capacity four-fold to over 100 million tonnes (mt) from the existing 25 mt.

Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group which is the parent body of the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), the developer of the project was also present during the inaugural function.

The second phase expansion will now make Dhamra the largest port in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen said "With the expansion of the project, the industrial park that is coming up and the airport, Dhamra will be one of the leading ports of South Asia."

Dhamra port is very important to Odisha and serves as a gateway to Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the ASEAN region.
