Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday extended his heartfelt congratulations to Odisha girl Saina Salonika for bagging gold in the U-14 girls’ category of the Commonwealth Chess Championship held in New Delhi.

Applauding the achievement of the Women’s FIDE Master (WFM), the Chief Minister in a twitter message said, “Congratulations to Saina Salonika on winning gold in Commonwealth Chess championship in New Delhi. Best wishes for future competitions.”

Wishing her a bright future, Naveen hoped that the girl would achieve bigger milestones during her life.

The Women’s FIDE Master finished with six points in the seven-round contest. She won five matches in the tournament while two of her games ended in a stalemate and thus remained unbeaten in the event.

The title triumph also enabled Saina to improve on her ELO rating. She currently has 2,079 rating points while the 13 she got after winning the championship will help in improving her ranking as she pursues her goal of getting her first women’s International Master (IM) norm.
