Bhubaneswar:  Odisha Government is contemplating to set up an anti-corruption cell in each department to put a check on corruption, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

While addressing the closing ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Vigilance Department here on Friday, Patnaik reiterated government’s commitment towards ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ towards corruption.

During its 60 years of existence Odisha Vigilance has grown from strength to strength and has established itself as a leading anti-corruption agency in the country.

“On this occasion, I expect the officers of Vigilance department to work dedicatedly to carry forward Government’s policy of zero tolerance towards corruption,” said Patnaik.

A short-film on State Vigilance, Commemorative Medal, Formation Sign, Revamped and dynamic website of Odisha Vigilance was also released on the occasion.

Vigilance DG RP Sharma on the other hand claimed that adequate measures have been taken by the department to create awareness and involve public in the ongoing fight against corruption.

“After CM’s directive on zero tolerance towards corruption, we had launched special drives in connection with irregularities in rural housing schemes. We have received over 1,000 complaints on the six dedicated telephone numbers that were issued earlier,” said Sharma.

Sharma further said that all the complaints are being verified and appropriate action would be taken in this regard.
