Jeypore: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated and laid foundation stone of several projects during his one-day visit to Koraput district today.

After arriving in Jeypore in a helicopter, Patnaik laid foundation stone of 12 projects including Mother and Childcare Centre, a bridge over Kamta river and a new stadium at Ambaguda.

Later, addressing a public meeting in Jeypore, the chief minister spoke about several welfare programmes being implemented by the state government.

Soon after the meeting, he went to Kotpad where he laid foundation stone of 11 projects including a 100-bedded boys’ hostel of Biju Patnaik College at Kundura and a 100-bedded boys’ hostel of Gupteswar High School.

Koraput District BJD president Jayaram Pangi, Energy minister and observer of Koraput district Pranab Prakash Das and former MLA and minister Rabi Narayan Nanda accompanied the chief minister during his visit to the district.

Earlier in the day, police detained 10 BJP workers and 20 Congress workers as they tried to show black flags to the chief minister soon after his arrival in Jeypore.
