Cuttack: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a ‘theme song’ on the occasion of its 82nd Foundation Day celebrations of Odisha Police at the Reserve Police Lines in Cuttack on Saturday.

The theme song has been composed by Sarat Nayak and its music has been given by Subrat Routrary.

A zero tolerance policy towards various anti-social elements and establishing a safe and secure society for all is the focus of Odisha police.

The theme song will inspire the personnel to discharge their duties with utmost care and dedication, official sources said.

Speaking after taking salute of a parade on, Patnaik also appreciated the role of police in keeping organised criminals in check.

Patnaik also urged senior officials to expedite harassment cases against women that are reportedly on the rise in the state.

Odisha government is committed towards protection of the human rights with high regards to the rights to women, children and other weaker sections, Patnaik said.

“The role of police is not limited to maintaining law and order. New areas of organised crimes, economic offences as well as cyber crimes now pose a serious challenge for the Odisha Police. The state government has focused on strengthening SOG, ODRAF and STF,” Patnaik added.

Apart from the theme song, a new ‘Smart Identity’ cards for police personnel was also launched on the 82nd Foundation Day of Odisha Police.

Director General of Police K.B. Singh told newsmen that the new identity cards would be helpful for both in-service and retired personnel to get entitlements as their personal data will be linked with Adhar along with unique bar-code.
