Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of International Women Day, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched a dedicated helpline number ‘181’ to provide immediate assistance to the fairer sex in the state.

The new facility was launched at the state level programme organised by Women and Child Development Department here today.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “It is a day to reassure our commitment for empowerment of women and recognising their increasing role in various fields of life. I congratulate women and call upon them to exercise their rights,” said Patnaik.

Official sources said the helpline number 181 would be of great assistance for women to report any kind of atrocities and violence in any part of the state.

“The government has taken several measures for the uplift of the women including the Kanya Ratna yojna and a new helpline number has been launched today. The helpline number will assist women in getting immediate assistance in any emergency situations," said Women and Child Development Minister Usha Debi.
