Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accorded district headquarters hospital (DHH) status to Jeypore sub- divisional hospital today.

The development came after a delegation of local residents and intellectuals led by former minister Rabi Narayan Nanda met Patnaik in Bhubaneswar today.

“The sub-division hospital at Jeypore is upgraded and given district headquarters hospital status,” said Patnaik.

Though people welcomed the decision, Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati alleged that announcement was made by BJD President not by the Chief Minister.

“We would have been pleased if Naveen Patnaik had made the announcement from the Secretariat instead from his residence,” said Bahinipati at a press conference.

Bahinipati further accused Rabi Narayan Nanda of conspiring and taking credit while bulk of the ground work including for the demand of upgrading the sub-divisional hospital was made by him.

Earlier today, Bahinipati with hundreds of party workers had also gheraoed the sub Collector’s office at Jeypore and sat on a dharna demanding up-gradation of the sub-divisional hospital to district headquarters hospital.
