Bhubaneswar: Students of Sai International School had a narrow escape today after the school bus in which they were travelling rammed into a road side electric pole near Baramunda Jagannath temple here in the morning today.

The bus could have been electrocuted had the electrical cabling not been done.

Locals said the bus driver lost control  of the vehicle as he was feeling sleepy. “When we enquired, the driver said he returned to Bhubaneswar from his village late last night. So, he was felling drowsy while driving the bus,” an eyewitness said.

Around 10-12 students along with some teachers were inside the vehicle, he added. The kids were in the grip of panic after the mishap.

Meanwhile, police have reached the spot and launched an investigation.
