Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has asked the government to initiate preparations for urban local body (ULB) polls and complete ward delimitation by January 2018.

In a letter to the Urban Development department, secretary of the SEC RN Sahu asked the government to finish delimitation of 93 ULBs.

Term of 66 ULBs including the Berhampur Municipal Corporation will be over by September 30, 2018 whereas tenure of other 20 ULBs will complete by December 4, 2018.

The SEC secretary also asked the government to finish reservation of the offices of Chairperson of municipalities under Sec 47 of the Odisha Municipal Act, 1950.
