Chit fund scam: Seashore chief Prashant Das arrested again

Bhubaneswar: A day after his release from jail, Seashore Group CMD Prashant Das was arrested again from his Jharpara residence here on Saturday in connection with three chit fund cases pending with the Dhenkanal police.

Das was released from the Jharpara circle jail here on Friday after getting bail in eight cases.

Speaking to the media, Das said his arrest has been done as per the law of the land because courts never issue warrant against a person who is already behind bars.

“I will move court for bail. The process of returning money to the depositors will be delayed due to the arrest but I will ensure all the investors of Seashore get their money as soon as possible,” Das added.

Meanwhile, Dhenkanal SP Basant Panigrahi said a team of the local police was sent to Bhubaneswar to arrest Das in connection with three cases pending against him with the Town Police Station.

“Das has been arrested from his residence at Jharpara. After interrogation, we will forward him to court and decide on our next course of action,” the SP said.
