Cuttack: Senior member of the Odisha State Bar Council Chinmay Mohanty on Monday took charge as the interim chairman of the Bar Council after an order was passed by the Orissa High Court.

Pronouncing the verdict, a division bench of the court directed Mohanty to take charges as the council’s interim chairman until a full-fledged chairman is elected within two months.

The chairman post had been vacant since July 2017 when the incumbent Manas Mohapatra resigned.
As per reports, Manas Mohapatra had suggested Chinmay Mohanty as the next Bar Council head.

It's worth mentioning that one Atma Prakash Mohanty had knocked the doors of the HC seeking its intervention for smooth conduct of the Bar Council chairman election.
