Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park got its new member after Pampeta, the oldest Chimpanzee delivered her sixth baby at the feeding-cum-resting chamber on Friday night.

According to reports, the condition of the newborn chimpanzee is stable.

Though Pampeta was expected to deliver baby on October 2, a team of veterinary doctors were closely monitoring her health at the zoo.

Earlier, the Nandankanan zoo authorities had brought Pampeta along with a male chimp Julu from Singapore zoo under an exchange programme in June 1994.
