Child Marriage: Childline averts another case in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: Childline squad successfully prevented another attempt of a family to marry-off their 17-year old minor daughter at Gunthingia village under Sarangagada area here in the district.

According to reports, the minor girl was to be married off to a person named Hrudya Bargi of the same village.

Acting on a tip-off, Childline officials along with police rushed to the spot and prevented the parents from going ahead with the marriage. They successfully persuaded both families to stop the marriage.

Meanwhile, the rescued minor has been handed over to District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).
