Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar: Top Maoist leader Jampanna alias Jinugu Narasimha Reddy heading the Odisha State Committee’s military commission surrendered before Telangana police along with his wife on Friday, media reports said.

However, official announcement of the development is awaited.

The top extremist who carried a reward of Rs 24 lakh on his head was leading KKBN (Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh) division of the outlawed outfit. He was hiding in the dense forest of Kandhamal, reports added.

Jampanna is said to have operated on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border for a long time

He was actively involved in 2008 Nayagarh armoury loot and 2004 Koraput district armoury attack that provided much-needed ammunition to the rebels.
