Bhubaneswar: Even as Odisha and Chhattisgarh are yet to resolve the controversy surrounding the the projects on the upstream of Mahanadi river, Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh has directed concerned officials to expedite the under-construction projects on Mahanadi and other rivers.

Emphasizing on the projects which have been undertaken in the past two years, Singh has asked the Chhattisgarh Water Resources department to expedite them and finish them by the deadline.

Notably, the projects in question include the contentious Arpa-Bhainsjhar project. Singh has been apprised that that the main Arpa project is 74% complete while the Arpa canal project has approached 32% completion.

Singh also reviewed various projects under construction on the Mahanadi River.

According to sources, Singh has directed the departmental authorities to obtain necessary environmental clearances for the projects as soon as possible.

It is learnt that Singh is personally overseeing the progress of the projects.
