Chhatrapur: Senior BJP leader and party spokesperson Golak Mohapatra was questioned by Chhatrapur police today in two phases in connection with councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder case.

Chhatrapur SDPO and Ganjam Additional SP quizzed the BJP spokesperson in presence of two lawyers.

Sources said Mohapatra was questioned on his alleged links with one of the key accused Krushna, who has been arrested in the councillor murder case.

"I gave satisfactory reply to questions asked to me. If the need arises, I am ready to appear before the police again," Mohapatra told mediapersons.

Earlier in the day, Mohapatra reached the police station in a rally accompanied by party leaders and supporters.

On the other hand, BJD activists led by Chhatrapur legislator Priyanshu Pradhan staged demonstration and burnt effigies of Mohapatra demanding his immediate arrest.

Pradhan said, "Undoubtedly some influential persons are behind the murder. Otherwise how can someone muster the courage to commit the crime."

In a press meet today, BJP state vice president, Samir Mohanty said the ruling party is trying to divert attention from the real issue by staging protests.

While 17 persons have been arrested in connection with the murder case, family members of Laxmidutta including his mother today named four other persons and demanded their immediate arrest.
