Puri: The wheel (chakra) of Jagmohan, the hall facing the Jagannath temple here was repaired after it was brought to notice of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) by temple authorities sometime back.

ASI officials said skilled mechanics repaired the wheel as some parts of the wheel was damaged.

“The wheel is in good condition but the base had loosened. The mechanics took the help of some soldering tools to carry out the repair work”, Hem Sagar Nayak, an official of ASI.

The crack in the wheel was noticed during an inspection of the temple, he added.

Meanwhile servitors of the 12th century shrine have come heavily on the ASI for not inspecting the shrine properly.

“It is pity that though the ASI has taken the onus of conserving the shrine, it is not inspecting the temple in a regular interval. That’s why small cracks in many structures inside the temple get unnoticed. If this continues, we will hit streets to make our voices heard for conservation of the temple”, said Binayak Dasmohapatra, a servitor.
