Chair hurled at minister Sanjay Dasburma at college function

Brahmagiri: Food minister Sanjay Dasburma today faced students’ ire here at Alaranath Vocational College when some students threw chair at him during a function.

The incident occurred when the minister was about to occupy the dias at the inaugural function of the college. Some students, believed to be backed by Opposition parties, shouted at him and threw chairs. However, police escorted Dasburma unhurt.

Later, supporters of the minister thrashed the attackers. A clash ensued between supporters of the minister and the attackers following which police had to resort to mild lathicharge.

However, the reason of creating violence and opposing the minister has not yet been ascertained. One student has been detained and is being interrogated, police said.

Meanwhile, the minister pleaded ignorance about cause of hurling chair. "I do not know what their demands are. In politics there should be opposition,but it should be in decent manner", Dasburma said.
