Bhubaneswar: In a move that will put Nabarangpur on the country’s rail map, Ministry of Railways (MOR) has allocated Rs 748 crore for the much needed broad gauge railway line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur.

The 38 km railway line is scheduled to be completed in a time frame of five years with the first two and half years used for encumbrance free land acquisition.

Half of the budget meant for the project will be provided by the Centre while the rest half of the construction cost will be borne by the State Government.

The Odisha Government will also provide the entire land free from any encumbrance and with all requisite clearances for expeditious execution of the project.

The project was cleared during October 2016 after an MoU between MOR and State Government was signed and it aims to link Nabarangpur, a district headquarters town with Jeypore traversing through underdeveloped and tribal inhabited areas in the districts of Koraput and Nabarangpur.
