Bhubaneswar: Raising serious concern over the spread of dengue in the state, Union minister of state for Health Faggan Singh Kulaste has said a Central team will visit the affected areas of the state to review the situation soon.

Kulaste, who arrived in Bhubaneswar yesterday to attend the fourth foundation day of AIIMS scheduled to be held today, said he will hold discussions with the officials of the health department of the state about how to restrict the spread of the vector borne disease in the state.

Talking to newsmen, Kulaste said, “We will take up the outbreak of dengue in Odisha in all seriousnes. Though it is the responsibility of the state government to restrict the spread of the vector borne disease, we want a central team to visit the affected areas to review the situation. After getting reports from the central team, we will provide all the possible assistance.”

Meanwhile, joint director of Health department Madan Mohan Pradhan on Friday visited the Jagatpur Industrial area and inspected a number of factories and industries operating there.

After reviewing the cleanliness of factories, Pradhan asked the owners of the industries to perform continuous fogging in the area to restrict the breeding of mosquito in the area.

“We have asked the factories and industries operating here to clean their surroundings as we found lots of waste materials in their premises which are facilitating mosquito breeding in the area,” Pradhan said.

Cuttack-Salepur MLA Prakash Chandra Behera also visited a number of industries yesterday and held discussions with Jagatpur Industries Association about possible ways to restrict the spread of the disease.
