Bhubaneswar: A five-member central team of the Congress would visit Gumudumaha village in Kandhamal district on Saturday to find out the circumstances leading to the of five innocent villagers, who were killed during an anti-Maoist operation in the district in the night on July 8.

Informing the media about the visit today, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Prasad Harichandan said the team formed by the party high command Sonia Gandhi has five senior leaders. They are, V Kishore Chandra Deo, Jayram Ramesh, KH Muniappa, Vincent Pala and Arun Oraon.

A delegation of party legislators led by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra has already visited the village and talked to the family members of the victims.

Congress members led by PCC president had laid seize to the Baliguda police station all night on Tuesday-Wednesday and relented only after the special investigating team (SIT) probing the killings assured them of action against the guilty security personnel.
