Bhubaneswar: Gajalaxmi Puja of Goddess Laxmi is being celebrated with much fervour at various places across the state especially in Dhenkanal and Kendrapara.

Festive fever has gripped Dhenkanal district, popular for the Gajalaxmi Puja, with the district administration making elaborate arrangements for the 10-day festival. This year, Goddess Laxmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, is being worshipped at 38 puja pandals in the town. Devotees have started thronging various pandals to offer prayer to the goddess. Besides huge pandals, dazzling lights and decorative gates are adding to the festive spirit in the town.

On the other hand, the district administration and police have taken necessary stapes to manage traffic and ensure smooth conduct of the festival.

The festival is also being celebrated with grandeur in Kendrapara. The town is all decked up with colourful lights and gigantic decorative gates. A total of 67 pandals have come up in the town. The district administration had held an emergency meeting to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the festival.

The town has been divided into two zones while five outposts have been created for the festival, sources said.

The festival is also being observed with revelry across the State including the capital city.
