Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: In view of certain paper leak allegations during the Class X and Class XII examinations, the CBSE has decided to re-conduct the examinations for Mathematics (Class X) and Economics (Class XII).

An official notification published by the Controller of Examination on official website of CBSE read, "The board has taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to reconduct the examinations in the following subjects. Dates for fresh examinations and the other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week."

Earlier, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had ordered the Directorate of Education to investigate and lodge a complaint with the CBSE after he reportedly received a leaked copy of the Class XII Economics paper just few minutes before commencement of the examination.

While the paper leak allegations emerged in Delhi, the Board's decision has worried students who appeared the examinations in other parts of the country.

"Odisha falls under different cluster of CBSE, why should we suffer for inefficiency of the board. Wait for the announcement of dates is going to tense us further," said a CBSE Class XII student of Cuttack, Lopamudra Pati.

The move is also a shock for the students who had found the papers easy and scoring.

Meanwhile, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadekar said, "Some parts of the paper were leaked on WhatsApp & we have lodged a police complaint on it. Investigation is underway & strict action will be taken. We have also decided to tighten security for the time when papers are being distributed."
