Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has ruled out the reports of holding Class 10 and 12 exams in February instead of March from the next academic session.

"No such proposal has been moved by the CBSE," Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha over whether the board has any proposal to prepone the annual examinations.

The response of the ministry came taking into cognizance the growing concerns among various schools over CBSE's plan to advance the board examinations by over a month

Besides, reports are there that CBSE is likely to take an initiative to reduce examination period by holding Class 10 and 12 exams on the same dates in two shifts – morning and afternoon, giving teachers extra time to check answer sheets.

Worth mentioning, CBSE has been embroiled in controversy since the discrepancies in results of Class 12 results were declared early this year. Some students, who had appeared their board exam in Odisha, complained of their results being kept withheld for no reason, while others raised voice over faulty evaluation of answer sheets.

On the other hand, on Thursday, the Delhi High Court pulled up CBSE for not notifying on its site that re-evaluation was permissible in all subjects of class 12 and asked the board: “Why did you not post our order online on your website? You gave the students only one-day time (on July 7) to apply for re-evaluation without even informing them about our decision (of July 6).”
