Bhubaneswar: Parents and students of class XII CBSE Board from various schools in the city staged a dharna in front of the board office here today protesting discrepancies in declaration of results on Sunday. While some students complained of their results being kept withheld for no reason, others raised voice over faulty evaluation of answer sheets. They demanded that immediate action must be taken to correct the errors and declare results immediately.

Holding posters, the students gheraoed the CBSE office at Saheed Nagar here and demanded reevaluation of the answer sheets and immediate publication of the withheld results.

''It is very surprising that I have secured 5 marks in Maths and 8 in Chemistry whereas my English mark is 85. I am not as bad a student to fail. The school has my pre board results and I have secured more than 80 percent in all subjects. How can I believe that I have failed? I want my papers to be reevaluated soon,'' said an aggrieved student of a city school. Her results were withheld till 7 pm in the evening and later she found that she has failed.

It may be mentioned here that the CBSE Class-XII results of many students were withheld by the board on Sunday and no new date has been given for announcement of their results.

"We want the regional director of CBSE to answer us otherwise strict action should be initiated against him,'' another parent complained.

Meanwhile, parents association convenor Sudarshan Dash said the association would take legal recourse and move the High Court on Tuesday. He said the body has already given a memorandum to the CBSE regional director in this regard and would submit the same to the Chief Minister soon.
