Bhubaneswar: Providing much needed relief to hundreds of students and their parents, Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed CBSE to conduct re-evaluation of answer sheets of 159 students who had earlier filed petition over discrepancies in publication of Class XII results.

The decision has come as a major blow to CBSE authorities as the board had earlier filed a review petition challenging answer copy re-evaluation.

In its order, the High Court has directed the students to apply for re-evaluation by June 15 and asked CBSE to publish results by June 30.

Earlier, at a press conference yesterday, the CBSE authorities had categorically denied to undertake further re-evaluation of answer copies and only asked students to apply for re-checking of marks.

Taking a stern note of the alleged irregularities in evaluation and publication of results by CBSE, the parents association has decided to organise a state-level convention to discuss and seek suggestions from intellectuals on the issue.

Besides, the association has also decided to form an ‘experts committee’ to examine the marks awarded to students from the photocopies of their answer sheets. Basing on the recommendations of the committee, the association would move Supreme Court for necessary action.
