Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has confirmed that the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 exams will be conducted in March and not in February.

The confirmation from the Board came amidst rumours that the CBSE has decided to advance the 2018 board examinations of Class 10 and Class 12 to February.

Denying the rumours of advancement of the exams, an official confirmed that the board exams will be held in March, NDTV reported.

As per the reports, CBSE is working on the formalities of the exams’ dates and the stakeholders will be intimated about it once it is ready.

"The class 10 and class 12 board exams will begin in March next year only .The schedule of the exam is yet to be finalised and intimated accordingly," NDTV quoted a CBSE official as saying.

Earlier in July, Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha had said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha over whether the board has any proposal to prepone the annual examinations. “No such proposal has been moved by the CBSE,” the minister had said.

Meanwhile, reports are there that CBSE is likely to take an initiative to reduce examination period by holding Class 10 and 12 exams on the same dates in two shifts – morning and afternoon, giving teachers extra time to check answer sheets.

It was believed that the CBSE had decided to advance the exams taking into cognizance the discrepancies in results of Class 12 results declared early this year. Some students, who had appeared their board exam in Odisha, complained of their results being kept withheld for no reason while others raised voice over faulty evaluation of answer sheets.

According to Times Now, the exact date sheet for CBSE Board Examinations 2018 is likely to be released before January 2018 and the Board has already started the process of registrations.

Meanwhile, the CBSE Class 10 2018 exam is expected to be completed in March while the Class 12 exam is likely to be extended till third week of April 2018.
