Koraput: A three-member team of the National SC Commission on Monday visited Koraput and met the family members and friends of the Kunduli girl who committed suicide and lashed out at the Odisha government for its failure to provide protection and justice to the minor girl.

National SC Commission member Yogendra Paswan said, "It's unfortunate that even after several months of investigation, no one has been arrested and the Kunduli girl is yet to get justice."

"The family members of the minor girl are demanding CBI inquiry. So, what is the problem of Odisha government if the case is handed over to CBI for investigation," questioned Paswan, adding that a CBI inquiry can only give justice to the deceased girl and bring all the culprits to book.

Earlier today, Congress staged dharna in front of the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhubaneswar alleging discrepancies in the reports of the Kunduli girl.

Congress leader Pradeep Majhi alleged that the state forensic lab is working at the behest of the ruling BJD.

"It's a shame that the independent organization was pressurized to manipulate the report of the 14-year-old girl," Majhi said.

Similarly, Koraput MLA Krishna Chandra Sagaria alleged that the government sabotaged the investigation by manipulating the medical evidences.

Reacting to the allegations, BJD spokesperson Rabi Narayan Nanda said the case will be inquired by a SIT under the supervision of the court. However, some are trying to politicize the sensitive incident for mere political gains.
