Cattle-laden truck overturns in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Tension prevailed in Nilakanthapur village under Bhuban Tehsil of Dhenkanal district today after a cattle-laden truck overturned near Baji Rout bridge today, killing a cow and injuring around 15 other cattle.

Three persons, including the truck driver, were also injured in the mishap. Irate locals have blocked the Bhuban-Dhenkanal road in protest.

As per sources, the cattle-laden truck was on its way to Haripur village when the driver lost control because of poor visibility due to fog and caused the accident.

"We got the information at 3.30 am that a vehicle trafficking cattle illegally on Haripur road has overturned near Baji Rout bridge, as a result of which the driver, helper and a labourer were injured and trapped inside the vehicle. We have rescued them and admitted to hospital and our investigation is underway," said ASI Seshadeb Lenka, Bhuban police station.
