Bhubaneswar: Ollywood actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Pappu Pom Pom, against whom a case was registered by Mahila Police yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, is reportedly absconding from his house in Jagannath Vihar area under Khandagari Police limits here.
The actor was absent when a team of Commissionerate Police reached his residence for interrogation in connection with the case.
Locals said they had not seen the actor and his family members for the past couple of days.
“I have not seen him since Saturday, the day media reports said that the actor is involved in sexual exploitation of a minor girl. His family members are also absent,” said a resident of Jagannath Vihar area.
Yesterday, the Mahila Police had lodged an FIR against the actor on the basis of the complaint filed by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Nirupama Rath. Pappu Pom Pom has been charged under under sections of 354 (A), 506 & 509 of IPC and Sec 8-12 of the POCSO Act, Police Commisssioner YB Khurania had said. Besides, a case has also been registered against the actor’s associate Pradipta Swain.
Sources said in its preliminary investigation, the CWC had found prima facie evidence that there is truth in the charges levelled against the actor.
On Saturday, a non government organisation — Friends Foundation Trust— had filed a complaint on behalf of the victim with the Mahila Police station accusing the actor of sexually exploiting and intimidating the minor girl after promising to get her roles in movies.
