Bolangir: Burnt body of a woman, working as caretaker of B C Jena Memorial Centre for Differently Abled at Pathachepa in Bolangir district, was recovered from a locked room of the centre on March 20.

The deceased has been identified as Nalini Pradhan, a resident of Burobhadi village under Loisingha block.

“Why will she commit suicide by burning herself without any reason? She must have been tortured, which she couldn’t bear and took the extreme step,” said one of Nalini’s relatives Prasanna Pradhan.

Meanwhile, the secretary of the organisation is the prime suspect in the case. Police is yet to trace his whereabouts.

IIC of Bolangir Out-Post Anand Chandra Majhi has said that Nalini was mentally stressed because of a brawl with a co-worker. Talking to media persons, he said, “Prima facie, we are getting reports that she committed suicide because of one of the members of the centre.”
