One killed in accident during MVI inspection

Khurda: A person was killed in a road accident allegedly due to the carelessness of a Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI) staff on NH-16 near the Prananatha College here on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Jaladhar Sahu of Bhagabati Sahi under Banpur police station. The incident took place when the MVI staff had stopped a truck, and a Tavera which was driven by Sahu dashed against the truck.

The Town police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued Sahu from the car but he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that accidents frequently occur at the place during MVI checking due to carelessness of the staff. However, reaction of the concerned authorities could not be received.
