Jagatsinghpur: Valuables including gold rings and mobile phones were allegedly looted from passengers of a car at gun point near Gadama Bazaar in Raghunathpur in the district late last night.

While Tapas Mallick, Pradeep Kumar Samal, Manindra Rout and the car’s driver were returning to Paradip from Cuttack in the vehicle at 2 am, some miscreants waylaid the car and looted the valuables at gun point.

Mallick, a loot victim and passenger of the car, said, “One of the looters hit my forehead with the pistol butt and snatched three gold rings, watches and our wallets containing bank cheques.”

When asked why the car passengers did not lodge a complaint with the local police, Mallick replied, “As I was profusely bleeding due to the attack by the looters, we drove directly to Paradip without informing the local police in Raghunathpur,” adding that they had talked to the Kujang police later.
