Bhubaneswar/Malkangiri: A Canadian national is suspected to have been abducted from a forest in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri of Odisha.
The foreign national, John, went on a bike ride into the forest. He had come to Chhattisgarh from Mumbai since March 14.
Police have launched massive search operation to trace him. Police said the travel agency of John is being interrogated.
Meanwhile, External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj sought a report from Odisha government after a twitterati from Balasore apprised her about the incident that the foreigner has been kidnapped from Koraput in Odisha.
"We are seized of the matter. I have asked for a report from Government of Odisha," Swaraj tweeted.
She also spoke to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the reported abduction. "I have spoken to Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister reg the reported abduction of a Canadian national in Koraput district of Odisha", she further mentioned in her social network site.
