Rayagada: There is possibility of egg attack against BJP national president Amit Shah during his Odisha visit next month, Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) President Amaresh Patri said today.

Addressing a preparatory meet for party's south Odisha youth conference, Patri said Union Ministers visiting Odisha will have to face protests over Centre's indifferent attitude towards demands of Odisha on issues of special category status and Mahanadi row.

“Union Minister VK Singh commented that Odisha does not need special state status and a Chhattisgarh minister quoted Mahanadi as their sole property and Odisha does not have any rights over sharing its water. These statements by BJP ministers are against the interests of Odisha so leaders of the saffron party will continue to face egg attacks. So there are chances Shah too might have to face egg attacks,” Patri said.

On the other hand, BJP criticised Patri’s comments terming it as violent attitude of the ruling party. Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Tankadhar Tripathy said BJD is on a violence mode after losing edge during the recently concluded Panchayat Polls.

“We will continue to unmask the ruling party’s undemocratic and violent attitude. Both the Congress and BJD are trying to threaten us but we will not be deterred by such threats. We are committed to work for the interests of the state,” Tripathy said.
