Businessman shot at, hospitalised in Rourkela

Rourkela: A local businessman was shot at by unidentified miscreants at Dandiapali under Brahamanitarang police limits late on Monday night.

Reports said Sanjay Kumar Soni, a businessman of Brahamanitarang area, was on his way to his house when four unidentified miscreants came on a scooty and opened fire at him near Dandiapali. The miscreants fled the area soon after the incident.

Hearing the gunshot, locals rushed to the spot and admitted Soni to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) where the doctors removed a bullet from his thigh. The condition of the businessman is stated to be stable.

Talking to media persons at the hospital, Soni said the four miscreants asked him to give them his mobile phone and money. “When I refused, they suddenly opened fire at me and fled the area in a Scooty which had no registration number,” he said.

Police has begun a manhunt to nab the culprits.
