Bhubaneswar: After being released from his abductors on Wednesday night, Bhubaneswar-based industrialist, Deepak Swami opened up for the first time and said business rivalry was the reason behind his abduction.

Deepak alleged that his rival Bikram Mohanty is the mastermind of the incident and demanded a police probe into it.

He said some miscreants had taken him to Athagarh via Barang and later left him at Ranpur near Khurda. Rs 20 lakh ransom had also been demanded for his release, he added.

Deepak also demanded police protection fearing that his life is in danger.

Notably, in her complaint filed at the Infocity police station on Tuesday night Deepak's wife had mentioned he has a factory in Choudwar area of Cuttack. Since the factory became defunct, some shareholders were threatening Deepak to return their money.

Deepak lives in an apartment at Magnetic Square here. He was kidnapped on Tuesday night, when he was returning home, mentions the complaint.
