Bhubaneswar: Commuters will now have to cough up more while travelling in bus as the state government has increased fares for all categories of passenger buses as per the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.

According to information, the fares for Ordinary and Express buses have been hiked by 2 paise per kilometre, while fares for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses have been hiked by 4 paise per kilometre.

With this hike coming into effect, the fare for Ordinary buses will now be 67 paise per km as against 65 paise per km earlier while the fare for Express buses will be 70 paise as against 68 paise per km earlier.

Similarly, deluxe category buses will now charge 95 paise per km as against 91 paise earlier while AC Deluxe buses will charge Rs 1.17 instead of the Rs 1.13 paise per km earlier.

This is the second time that bus fares have been hiked for all categories this new year.
